Hoyu Hair Show - Colour Kaleidoscope 2008

D.A.Y (huiyi, xinhui and me) modeled as hair models for anthony hair salon at a hoyu hair colour show at the arena clarke quay on 15th July!

don't really have time to blog about it much so i shall just let the videos and photos speak for themselves. :) Basically it was an eye-opening experience to the modeling world. And, it is just not as glamorous as it looks really. but still fun in a way, after its over.

My hair suffered alot of damage though. on the day before we went to he salon after school to cut and dye our hair. they first bleach our hair until it was stripped of all pigment and we look like lions. -.- (yes its the same colour as their fur) quite shocking and horrible. lucky they went on to apply a second layer of colouring. and a 3rd layer of highlights. xh had a very light blonde colour, hy is brown with platinum blonde fringe + my relatively normal looking ash brown colour at the top and lighter shade at the bottom.

on the day itself, there was waiting waiting and more waiting starting from 9am! there was makeup, rehearsal, hair styling where they keep spraying hair spray on you. their hair spray can is like half a metre long!? so there was alot of gunk to remove at the end of the day.

yep, and after that on wed, we went back after sch to redye our hair black. survived sch with alot of spray (again!) with black hair spray. >.<

comments: its short (2mins +) and better in terms of vocals to the past songs. :] the bg music is a piano piece and it is played at a slower pace than the actual song. i tried to bring out the emotion as best as i could.

Back to Artistic Pursuits

ok, after a whole year of detraction from any art stuff due to me choosing not to join art club again, i'm back blogging! (writing is a literal art form right? i may be wrong).

erhem. anyway, the holidays have been pretty uneventful, consisting mainly of the primative living (eat, sleep, digest), training + para paraing at safra and occasional outings. since i have so much free time (which is actually a self illusion thingy cos as mr. low kindly made everysingle one of us say among our holiday plans, that we will study hard) I decided to paint!

theres this painting hanging behind my door for 2 years now which i until now haven't been able to finish it. my non existant knowledge of painting did not help at all because, the WHOLE time, i have absolutely NO IDEA what i was doing. its mostly slap one colour of choice. spread spread spread, blend abit here. and it looks horrible. like some first grader's painting. the best i could do is to blend more and more paint until it looks decent through trial and error. gah. thats why i keep putting it up. a few buildings that are like 3 cm by 3 cm takes me the whole afternoon.

this is work in progress. (actually its done le. >.<>and the finished product tada! its like my last connecting thread to rgs. supposed to be a piece for a environmental theme competition. but er, as you can see, it never made it, in all sense of the phrase. i think the concept is something like how the whole picture is very bright and cheery, but it is spoiled by the polluting factory right smack in the middle of it. yups.

anyway, an interesting side story. i was in the living room, when my bro exclaimed "why are there only 2 fishes left?" you see, we had 3 goldfishes, and there was only 2 left. at first we tot one was accidentally flushed down the toliet bowl while the tank was being clean. until my maid found: GRISLY LEFTOVERS OF MY FISH! there was fine, nearly invisible bones left at the bottom of the tank and one 1cm cube chunk of white coloured meat left. It was soo creepy!

apparently we all neglected the feeding of the fish and they turned carnivorous. *shudders*. its so gross can? they ate everything so cleanly that there was almost no evidence left! cannibals! >A< oh the horror!

morals of the story:
1. don't be the smallest in your group.
2. make allies
3. find a owner that feeds you and your gang regularly. especially your gang.

'Aftermath of July 8th :)'

After the wonderful afternoon, I met up with andra (who also went orchard shopping) and went to Np to meet my mum and bro. Then we went Sakae Sushi!

And then we got a black forest cake at bengawan solo! Andra has also very nicely personalized it with M&Ms! :D Its colourful and pretty too!

'Nationals'

Missed school on friday cause it was Shooting Nationals. Since its at SAFRA, i woke up at 7am instead of 6.15am and walked to it. haha. :D

Anyway, upon reaching there, i discovered we converted an entire locker area into a gaming/gambling den. There were about 30+ of us cramped into one area and blocking the way of the other school shooters, which unlike us did not turn up in full force, cause our WHOLE club was there. There were people playing monopoly, Game of Life, Risk, and various card games. -.- + the usual camwhoring sessions.

At first the mood was light. It was like a club outing instead. And the whole thing was soooo soo different from other sporting competitions i've been to. its like there were 3 groups of people. the people competing, the people worried about the people competing and trying to find out what is happening, and the others that were playing games.

The reason we were segregated was because they did not allow students to go in the shooting range and watch. Only the teacher IC and coach was allowed. But we managed to sneak one person in cause he looked old enough to be a china coach. haha, so he wore this national team jacket and walked right in as 'zhang jao lian' . XD

Anyhow, we spent out time all the way to noon walking around SAFRA and sleeping, slacking playing. OH! i just remembered. -.- we played poker. with TARGET CARDS AS CHIPS. haha. damn funny. turns out all shooters do that in their free time. so we were betting piles of cards and doing "ALL IN!" quite fun lah.

then we went to the nearby coffee shop for lunch! spent 4.50 for a pepper steak at a western food store. NICE! will go back there again. the portion is huge too. :)

then we have the prize presentation! Eunice and I were the photographers. and i found out NEVER AGAIN will I become a photographer. First while eveyone is sitting on the stands and chit-chatting, you have to sneak and scutter into prime spots and kope them early. why i say sneak and scutter? cause we were basically ducking our heads while moving in case we blocked someone. and we have to squat/kneel/sprawl on the floor that is covered with a film of lead powder. and i assure you, it sucks to do that while you are wearing a skirt. It hurts too! i though my leg will break if i attempt to balance or sit on the floor, any longer. When its our time to take photos then you have to squirm your way out infront of the rest of the photographers. Abit like crabs coming out of hiding since we were keeping our height below 1m at all times. -.-

so we tried to remain out of sight while waiting for our school ppl to recieve their prizes. then its snap snap snap for all its worth. in the end we got 1 gold and 2 bronzes, which according to lala is a disappointment cause last year it was 1 gold 3 or 2 silvers. fuhua owned basically. RGS and RI did not bad too. the raffles family made up at least 1/4 of everyone there.

there was alot of emo-ness at the event. shooters generally have high expectations and erm, so there are tears and red eyes around. theres the heart warming moments too. after the prize ceremony, the entire raffles family sang the RGS + RJ/RI school song and we did 2 cheers. :) it was a great feeling to be standing in a compact circle singing/cheering your hearts out.

After the whole thing there were more photos and we travelled to dhoby ghaut to have dinner at fish and co!. Janice and I were really broke. the cheapest thing on menu was $15+. ate new york fish and chips which is 16+. -.-

then, the staff of fish and co suddenly came over with 2 hats and asked for huiru and my names! it turns out they were going to celebrate both our birthdays which are on 7th and 8th july respectively. so we each wore a funny looking hat and held a sparkler. there was a nice big chocolate cake from 'Hans'! Thanks sam and eunice for getting the cake! and the staff did their special fish and co birthday cheer. and everyone (our entire club + j3s) sang a birthday song for us. :) Thanks guys! you all were really sweet!

Then we cut the cake (quite horribly) and fed our already overstuffed stomachs. XD The total bill came up to $600! After that, the day ended with taking more photos with the 'LOVE' statue outside fish and co, parkmall.

Some went on to the arcade but by then it was 10pm(?) so we went home. :)

Yay! Its my first long post without photos. haha, but don't worry, i will insert them when they have been uploaded. must have accummulated a few hundred photos that day.:D

anyway, tmr is 8th july! will be going out with xh and hy!

went out with ex-primary school classmates marilyn, ziting and huiyi on thurs. hy calls its vanmarting, so mine is martingyi. -.- anyway, we went kboxing first at cineleisure, but it was a very dead activity. it seems we only get high during camwhoring when we went shopping at far east + our usual round of neoprints. found out Mar gets high after her hair cut at the clippers salon. 0.o I shall just post pics (we've got lots of them) XD

so, in chronological order,
first up is kbox! as you can see, it wasn't a very high affair cause most of us are sick and can't really sing. mar didn't sing at all. but it was still an ok activity. spent $13 on this. oh well, i like the teriyaki chicken lunch set. -.- we overstayed by an hour. :)

on the way out, someone (i forgot who) exclaimed that these group of four guys on the wall are really shuai. >.<>hy with ____. (do not know the name. >.<)

yes, you guessed it! its neoprints at cine! haha. :D see the nice shiny paper? we took 2 rounds of neoprints in all. yay! pretty puripuka (i think thats what they are called in japan. but i'm most likely not 100% correct)but being poor students, we are tight on budget, so here comes the trusty digital camera shots! we conveniently borrowed the neoprint machines. So the whole affair is close to foc (free-of-charge)! but its not cause it actually still needs battery charging. XD ok. lame. theres more pics but the file hy sent me is corrupt. hy send again! :D

then we went shopping at far east. and marilyn got her haircut! so she wanted to take more photos.

after all that activity, it was...*drumroll*

lunch at pastamania! and we had to walk all the way from far east to cine AGAIN, just to eat pastamania. i had carbonara pasta! it was really filling. then we played with our food when we finished. hy looks innocent but is actually pouring heaps of tabasco sauce, pepper, garnish, salt, chilli powder, random pieces of pasta and weird sauce + uncooked pasta bits (from above) into MY PLATE. -______-"'

then we camwhored somemore! this time the camera was balanced on a waterbottle. just now it was on a dustbin. we scared a passerby who was going to throw some rubbish. he was shocked when he saw the camera on timer mode. 0.0 oh, and the hand isn't mine. can tell? i think ppl must think we are some crazy bunch of idiots. but we are. oh well. -.-finally, the last photo of this long, long post. I must have said 19,000 words already, since a picture says a 1000 words. :D

yay! a fruitful day! :) spent $30 in all. sigh. but it was fun. :)

You Hoo~! This is my first post since holidays started, but my blog is NOT inactive cause I have 60 + 1 = 61 posts in all! :D :D And they are all nice meaningful posts. :P

Anyway, what happened, on the first saturday morning of the holidays we went to SAFRA shooting range near my house to celebrate Jonathan's birthday. He had his monthly shoot and we being nice ppl, surprised him after his shoot! :D we got a nice mango cake from bengawan solo and had 2 slices each. :D :D then anyway, while waiting for him we were loithering around this corner with a nice BIG wooden table and many chairs. theres a few white board too. then we played PICTIONARY and HANGMAN on the board -.- oh, and we emoed on the table and camwhored. -.-

It was after recording this that I realised it was related to my last post. -.- Anyway, erm, it is a really simple song so nothing much to say. its just that I sung it based on my memory from my last singing session with duste...and then after recording i realised some parts were of the wrong tune. heh. but it still sounds fine. >.> oh well, for once its not a japanese song. :) Overall, I'm quite happy with it though I didn't put 100% emotion in it. -____-

I'm allergic to Hor Fun.

ok, actually is just the hor fun by stall 3 from my school canteen. and i only got the allergic reaction twice out of how many times i ate it.

Don't know whether if on the both accounts theres something weird in the food or because of the combination of rainy weather + hor fun (it was always raining during the allergic reaction). But since I had it TWICE! its not anomalous!!! its very horrible and the irritation last for 2 hours and starts immediately after you finished it. >.< intensive itchy in my ear and it will extend outwards to the back of the ear and DOWN THE NECK. THAT + REDNESS. its really freaking irritating.

Hence, I conclude that my skin is SUPER SUCKY and SUPER SENSTIVE:
1. I'm allergic to hair conditioners
2. When others have a ear piercing infection, its just the lobe that is affected. When I have a ear piercing infection, my body's immune system has to show off and over react by extending the swelling to my entire ear area and down the neck. wtf.
3. Sometimes I get an insanely irritating itch on my nose
4. I'm allergic to 2 kinds of antibiotics: Penicillin and erythromycin enthylsuccinate
5. Super-prone to pigmentation by the sun. over 2 years i have amassed 17 PERMANENT spots on my cheeks. wow. and they are going to EXPAND over the years.
6. Just less than an hour's exposure of hot sun can give me sunburn. (after tennis during pe)
7. once i get a shade darker (which always happens) it doesn't look like it will ever subside (unless i stay in a cave for a few years)
7. some weird skin condition on my arms that refuses to go away until i'm 30 (the doctor says so) and theres nothing i can do about it.

sigh. i will never eat hor fun again.

Class Campus Camwhore Session

It all started out with Yonghan's new phone during calss lunch. Its the same model as mine (z610i), but the blue version. I think he was trying it out or something. Then they started taking random shots of people using the frame function of the camera phone, namely the heart shape one. -.- for some reason they think its fun snapping random pairs of people and er, a few more ppl joined in the fray. so we ended up with alot of crappified photos. anyway, here are a few of them =D :

"You are my love" is an insert song in the anime Tsubasa Chronicles, orginally sang by Yui Makino. The instrumental is a fan-made piano piece. I was inspired to try singing it after a tsubasa chronicle marathon last weekend. It is supposed to be a song by the main female protagnist Sakura about her inner feelings and her tragic love with syaoran. I think the lyrics are quite beautiful. :)

Erm, this time round i'm quite satisfied with the recording and think its worth a try cause I feel that its better than all my previous ones and shorter too. haha. only 2.45 mins.

hihi, just a short post. I finished gavel today and was about to go home when i saw two familiar faces. -.- its duste and ariel! haha. so we decided to take photos of us three in school uniform. was trying to use timer mode on huiyi's (d) phone cam by leaving it on the stairs, but the attempt failed cos we didn't know when it is going to take the photo so we kinda had a frozen smile for 20 secs. in the end the phone cam didn't work and we gave up. so huiyi got her friend to take for us!. :)

omg, i'm so guai. XD xh comment my skirt looks long. but i pointed out its cause my blouse is tucked in. >.< don't wanna look lian.

ok, i haven't started on hw at all due to a whole string of activities. *dies at the amount of hw to be done* After the 6B outing, i had dinner with D.A.Y on the next day at orchard, cineleisure. then was an outing at vivo + a gunbound marathon match from noon to night and swimming at safra. *dies again* its going to be all my fault if i can't finish hw. (see! i'm blogging now instead of doing work!) only touched one worksheet since the march hols started. anyway, just a short pic post.

This is the first time since thursday i could managed to get on the net. anyway, loads happened since then with orientation 2, shooting camp and chongfu 6B outing!

When i get my hands on the shooting camp pics i'll blog abt it. but it was really fun! hooray for the J2s! we <3>

Then i has steamboat at marina bay last night with about 10+ 6B pple. again pics not here with me. its from 6 to 11+ then i cabbed back home with heng ning, huiyi and shawn zhang. Just a quick update. :) I finally finished the drawing I started in December! Lineart was done before school started and colouring was on off during this 2 months. Didn't really like some colour choices, like for the cat. wanted to make it stawberry and chocolate colour, but decided to play safe. >.< http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/50033255/ haha, i discovered that on DA you can sell your prints even without subscription! lol. i tried it out just for fun. its cheaper and more profitable to sell on your own though.

Just a short post to commerate V-day (Valentines' day, Not Van's day XD) and to thank all the super nice ppl who gave me presents even though i didn't prepare for them. :P Gomen nasai! I devote this post to you. :D

This year, its actually the first time i prepared v-day presents. last time in rg, no such thing as v-day celebration one, at least for most of us. -.- anyway, our class did a secret valentines exchange thingo, and theres angels and mortals to buy prezzies for. :D so after much debating and going nuts in the shop trying to pick stuff that match each other and putting myself at risk for looking like a psycho who takes too many chocolates and then decides to abandon them later (usually at the wrong places)... i settled with these: :D

Down the Memory Lane

This is my first post since school life at RJC started. There's so much that happened and so many things to say, i don't know where to start! Sigh. But one things for sure. Even though I've met alot of new friends and people + new environment and such, but i can't help feeling a sense of nostalgia. I miss my good old rgs and my old friends. :( its not like we don't see each other anymore and the relationship's still there BUT you can't help feeling a bit lost from each other. At times you might even feel like you're not friends anymore. -.-

DEMO! Even though you might not be part of the other person's life directly, it will always remain a fact that you have had happy moments before and it is best reminded by looking at past neoprints and photos. :) I'm not being emo. Its just about reminding yourself that the friendship's still there and it will never completely erased. Haha, just like the peanut butter and jam bread relationship in sex education class. lol.

anyway, i chanced upon some pictures taken of the old RGS art club gang at our last meeting and decided to focus on talking about ccas in this post! yay! (Taken from xinhui's friendster pics :) )

It was taken during the farewell dinner with mr mah. He is now in australia with his family and at that time we joked that we wll go visit him after A lvls togther. :D heh heh.

Now at rjc, most of us aren't going to join artclub again (I think its actually all of us). Few of our artclub seniors went back to artclub last year too. I think everyone wants to try something new. Still, we must always remeber it was fun slacking in artclub and going for the fieldtrips together! And the lessons from mr mah and ms tong. *sniff* TnT

I've already gotten my ccas le. I'm in Shooting (Air Pistol) and Gavel Club. somehow they feel very individualistic. I miss the warm feeling of the artclub family. Shooting is competitive, even between your cca mates. Its not a very team sport. Neither is gavel. hmm..I feel like joining something else with my old friends. maybe i'll drop gavel. ahh..i don't know! I miss old times!! ahhh!!!!

Last Thursday...

Today is a thursday. And being true to my procastinating self, i shall blog about what happened last thursday. AND, being true to my lazy self, i shall only let piictures do the talking, ANDDD being true to my nice self, i shall add a few more words. -.- *feels the need to justify what i do*

Basically, in the morning I went for netball practice for netball carnival in school. We won 2nd for shooting! (Combined team effort by Jieshi, Zhen Yi and me!:D Then went for kbox with huiyi and then singapore biennale with huiyi and xinhui.

we spent a total of 4 hours on this trip starting from city hall mrt, and only 1 hour is spent at the intended destination. 30% is rest and 70% is walking walking and more walking. we probably went to the whole of that area that day. And to prove it, we found the old RGS GATE!! and decided to take photos with it.-_______-

anyway, we finally did made it there. to national museum. its quite nice in a way. it gives you this whole city-of-clean-white-olden-buildings feeling. very out of place with the rest of the world.

This is my entry for the digital art competition 'Mangaka 06'. I'm in the intermediate category, so the theme for me is Ying Yang. They wanted 2 characters that are opposites and yet complement each other. -.-

so, i did the sun and the moon/day and night...

"At the seventh heavenly hour,
tides turn and dusk fades into night.
sky spiders spin webs of stars
and the night flowers bloom amidst dancing wings.
Sitting on the moon swing,
Luna cast long threads of light, left over by day.

And then, just as it started, dawn came

the inherent differences to show that day and night are very diff: stationary/moving, blue/orange(complementary colours), mysterious/open, dark/bright, complicated/simple...and the list goes on.

BUT! they are linked by the cycle of day and night. I don't know if you noticed the excessive use of circles? bah. may not be obvious enough. oh well, i spent too much time on it, so, i kinda got bored of looking at it. -.- took me AT LEAST 40+ hours. but i probably hit 50 le. (why?? why am i so slow?? ppl take only a few hours!!! ahhhhh)

Went to funan IT mall last night to submit the drawing at the gamescore outlet. i arrived there at the last half an hour then we went to Surf and Turf to eat. (chalked up a $118 bill. WOOT!) There are alot of ppl there handing it up also. Me was busy looking at how other artists look like. didn't see any other artworks though. they are all so secretive. -.- bah. i shall be diff and expose mine. anyway, i hope they hold the awards ceremony soon. i wanna go (i hope i can..) cos its fun. :P

honestly i don't really think the prizes are worth it. 1st prize XBOX 360 is like super sad lah. i really think so. xboxs are worthless to the producders. i bet they will gladly sell it to you below cost. WHY? Cause the games are at least $70 BUCKS EACH on average! Its daylight robbery i tell you. same goes to those broadband packages they give you. starhub offers $58 a mth + xbox + free outgoing calls (but must buy $100+ modem) + router and many other frills, while singtel is $29 a mth. You tell me, is this not a sneaky marketing strategy? Most ppl, even I, is sooo tempted to just get the starhub plan. if you really assess them with a clear mind, you know that it is not worth it to get starhub plan just because of the xbox + frills.

ok, back to the contest prizes. The 2nd prize is a even more pathetic nintendo DS lite. -.- and third prize is some voucher. sigh. god knows how many hundreds of people paid $10 for the registation fee.

Its more than 1 month since I've updated. heh. so i thought it is decent for me to pop back right now just in case people think i've gotten knocked down by a car or something. erm, whats happening now is basically EXAMS EXAMS EXAMS. but as you can see, i'm slacking at this very moment, and seem goes to all you guys who are reading my ranting when you'll supposed to be studying!! (Give yourself a pinch for doing that!). (ok, now pat yourself for coming here!:D)

hmm..theres a million things i'm supposed to be doing now e.g. do maths assignment 3, english comprehension, study and mug like the rest of my 100+ school mates, excercise...whatever. *feels guilty* I just abandoned all of them and sleep for 3hours plus...so am having a bloating stomach now.>.> retribution. bah.

anyway, alot of things happened in my absence on this blog. racial harmony day, national day + the long weekend that follows which i didn't blog about though theres alot to say. probably i will, probably i'll not. theres photos though. i could just upload them and save a thousand words.-.-

so, my EOYs end officially on aug 31! and mangaka's due 26th. (only 80% completed) so its busy busy now. will update with a new layout after everythings over. hopefully a massive one. xh keeps bugging about the horrible coding for the layout cos its screwed in her mac. so i shall fix it.

on a final note, i finally realised what i want to buy! (though its only a temporary excessive want). which is amazing for me as i hardly ever want anything! (except food). :D

- a set of really beautiful tarot cards with gorgeous artwork + instructions for usage. :D:D it just seems cool. but really is another "she(1) chi(3)" in chinese. probably 10+ bucks. but my standard's really high, so the artwork must be top-notch. te-he.
- the $53.95 dungeon and dragons game at borders. (just sounds interesting so i wanted to try them out. its a western game so you hardly ever see it here. I've heard about it in books and foxtrot comics) :)

Happy Birthday to me!! :D

so long never come to my blog le. since today's my birthday, I shall post a song I composed from scratch! Yes! Van, who has never learnt a single musical instrument (except the complusory recorder), much less know how to read the scales, has composed a song. Hmm..if you look at the scale, you will be shocked. I just made sure it sound alright, but i am pretty sure i have broken a whole lot of music rules on the way.

hmm, there are 4 staffs (is that what you call that? the programs calls it that anyway) 3 playing the same notes, but using diff instruments. and one bg sound which i fiddled with by adding random notes. the result is a splitting earache! I have one now after multiple listenings. its not great, but I'm amazed thats all. I never expect i could do compose a song (ignore the quality of the product). Its pretty limited in what i wanted the song to be like because I do not understand what the notes do..so sad. The pausings aren't totslly what I want it to be like too. but more or less its there. Right now its called wind in the sky (chinese: ting fong sheng) but if you have better titles, can contribute (as in what you think this song means -.-)

I don't really feel like blogging nowadays. Hmm..exams is more or less over le but there is still geog pt, philo SA essay, Physics pt and SS test.

This few days I slacked (quite obviously) hmm..watched VCDs, CGed half a new picture ( drew the entire lineart painstaking in the com), did geog photo college and slacked. -.- anyway, nothing much I want to say here. (even though quite alot going on. I'm still not the writing type) A-Ha wanna complain something. my brother is freaking irritating IRRITATING. his sudden change in behaviour (i attribute it to hormones) is upsetting me. I developed this habit of throwing stuff and I think i fight with him everyday. so IRRITATING!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

anyway, i was doing goeg reflections when i decided to slack off. (again in paint.) and i started doing some doodle thing with teal (a nice nice colour!) then it reminded me of the primary school artwork we did. so i decided to fill in some colours then decided it looked like a stain glass window.

its a rose! can you see?? (its not really complete. I wanted to add more colours (being a colourful person -.- although now in language wise *blames bro*) but after i saved as jpeg, the quality went freaking down so i can't use fill anymore. blah. nvm them.

Labour Day!

yay! todays labour day! a school holiday! lets all celebrate the joy of creation! (I'know this is not the true meaning but somehow it reminds me of giving birth)

My hamster just embraced this special moment! She gave birth to 2 baby hamsters this morning!

So i shall join in this celebration too! Whilst I was drawing sketches for the mangaka 06 whose theme is yin and yang, i started thinking about polar opposites! And *poof* another wonderful idea for a manga/illustration book is born! It is a mixture of Kingdom Harts, Final Fantasy, Cardcaptor sakura anndddd mangaka 06 theme! It shall be called "polarix"!

Let me launch into how the chliche plot will go! (I can say it all in about 5 mins. :P)

Firstly, there is this world called the 'Polarix'. Everything in there is governed by the 'Lifestream', which is the flow of life! However, one day, the balance of life was upsetted when the 'Cleion', a key that holds the balance of lifestream is shattered into many pieces accidentally, This resulted in total chaos where the polar opposites, which initally resides in the 'Lifestream' as one was seperated and thus thrown into conflict with one another (cause sui huo bu xiang rong;water and fire don't mix) Polar opposites btw, are like dark and light, love and hate, sun and moon, water and fire, earth and air..so on.

A girl called Kiari, who lived with her grandfather in a town called Shirona was seperated from the others because of a gigantic earthquake (one of the many disasterous consequences of the upset of 'lifestream') which threatened to split her hometown.

[[insert story: Her parents gave their lives in another conflict that happened 40years ago where something similiar happened too. It was then when her parents with a group of other people created the cleion to keep the balance of the lifestream and solve the war]]

In Shirona, the people used to live a happy merry life where they used their voices to heal the sick and the injured (their voices have healing powers)

Anyway, some how, it the defining moment when the 'cleion' broke, a boy called Shinra from Earth was sleeping in class and daydreaming -.-. Shinra's dream somehow (i said somehow cause i haven't came up with a logical reason) crossed with the world polarix and he er..got transported there (Only his mind. when the whole thing is over, he's still in his history lesson. but the textbook became funny..[i haven't work it out either but its supposedto show evidence of what happened. e.g. maybe the whole incident got recorded in there with hiss name or something])

anyway, he found himself in the Polarix where he met the lost Kiari. He recounted his experience in his dream before he got transported here. apparently he had some flashes of the incident happening (the breaking of the ceion)..

anyway, up to this point, my brain kinda got stuck in the web of the story. Basically, it is a very chliche (i don't know how to spell it...) plot that resulting from me reading too much ff and kh synopsis as well as the obession with yin and yang at the moment, AND the influence from CCS, which is the first ever anime i watched.

the two main characters then found the keychain that held just one fragment of the chieon containing one polar opposite that is still on it. -Light. so they have to travel around the world and collect all of the polar opposites back. and it isn't hard because opposites attracts and if you have one, the other will come. (e.g. dark will come looking for them because they have light -.-) at the end of it, spoiler alert! The FINALIE. Once they have all the polar opposties back into the cleion, they face one last challenge. The polar opposite of everything is NOTHING. thus er..their final struggle with it marks the ending. YAY! I finished the entire story!

yup. and of course, all story endings cannot be complete without the lead characters falling in love with each other. -.-
edit: may want to make it a sad story

as for all the side plots. I only have one. er. kiari's polar opposite is another girl named Iraik(note her name and kiari's). she has huanting vocals that will make others lose their minds. (the mysterious kind! NOT the bad singing type. -____________-) lalala and Iraik somehow tried to make shinra lose his mind.

see? if you have gotten so far, and you are interested, you can help me write the story! :P I decided it is not going to be a manga but a fictional story with illustrations of course. :D:D volunteers? lol. seems like it will only be a fantasy.

(something like that) . so..it struck me and i decided i should try understanding the song. the result is better than my previous ones but still abit monotonous.(oh well)

in case you are freaked out by some weird singing in an alien lang in the song, don't be. the funny line is actually "I need more affection than you know" in reverse. Duste(hy) and I decided to record a song together. Runawayy Maids

ok. i feel abit dirty today (partly cos i was sweaty after sports fest) so i am going to clear some skeletons in my closet.

*btw, the title is just a random link to ally cos she asked me for the name analysis url, and while i was typing the title (which was orginally supposed to be runway maids, i just added a y. today, my maid misna went home. you might think its normal, but no, her contract of 2 years haven't expired. this is a long story and it uncovered somethings about maids in singapore. maybe because they are in a foriegn land and they will miss home and become emotionally insecure, they tend to lean towards the other gender for the comfort. my maid was sent home because we didn't feel we can trust her anymore. she was telling lies by the dozen.

she linked up in a relationship with a cleaner guy near my block. they went out and had chat sessions, intimate sessions(kissing and hugging) ... (since all the facts are abit groggy in my head now, i shall list them out.) i only knew of all this after she left and andra told us all the things she confided in her in the last few months.

1. the cleaner guy works here. i see him everymorning when misna brings me down. its as though they planned to meet.
2. he called to our home a many times.
3. misna actually went to his flat
4. he gave her monetary items
5. he was rumored to target other maids before misna came. apparently she is the only one to hook up with him.
6. misna took food from our house for him.

AND, the frightening shocking thing is. just two months later, she have planned to GET MARRIED WITH HIM and leave the country to indonesia WITH HIM.
she actually went to took passport photos for the wedding documents when she had the chance.
she knew we already know of her affair thus she was totally prepared to go, its just that we caught her offguard by sending her off early. (she did confide in andra that she was afraid we would send her back before her inital plan.)

apparently she only went for the guy cos he had money. he was really ugly looking. ( as in he had ONLY ONE EYE!) the other one is fake. really. i am NOT exaggerating.

and during the time this issue was brought up, i found out that maids do runaway often. my first ever maid (i wouldn't know cos i was a baby). apparently she left me in the cradle and ran away to the embassy. (zy's maid was also like that). phillipine maids sometimes come here only to run away to the embassy. i think they can get some sort of benefit there.

my previous maid before misna had a short term relationship too. it was just before her contract ended. but she was a bit more afraid therefore it didn't progress. But misna is different. shes very daring actually. today when she left (i wasn't there), she didn't cry or anything. she just threatened us and wanted us to keep her for 2 more months when she will get her first pay. (cos the first 6 months don't have pay as she has to pay the agent)

anyway, its a complicated affair. i shan't elaborate. if all the skeletons gone then i will have bone deficiency.(ostero.)

I saw a link on duste's blog to a face recognition website, http://www.myheritage.com/. She ran a d.a.y neoprint through the service and got some interesting results. -__- ( go see if you want. i think i got michelle yeoh) Its mostly inaccurate lah. They watch out for the spacing between your facial features I guess. Or any characteristic e.g. one eyebrow higher than the other etc etc. Its not so much the shape of the feature itself. Also, you have have a particular expression at that time, or you are slanted at an angle, it will also pick the photo of the celebrity that is with that particular angle or expression (rmb, expressions change the spacing) according to them a match of 80% and above than can be considered close.

dwhmm..i'm a person who rarely goes blog surfing unless i wanna know whats happening to the person whom I haven't heard from from a long time. :P I happened to click on Yiling's blog and after reading through her endless hilarous blog entries, i saw this quiz! Hamster Heredity

you get the gist. the cute darlings in the last previous blog entries have already went past their carefree (free?? hint: they are in a cage) childhood, survived their adolescent years and ventured into the unknown (who knows what they do) had a whirlwind romance courtship, pre-martial sex (they aren't legally bounded) and gave birth to 4 er..healthy kids in the course of what, 1 MONTH??? I take that long to try and understand my comprehension passage (and is still trying). oh well, even if i fail my english test (which i will. trust me. Van is trustable.), i will pass my bio, cos this critters have demonstrated to me the laws of heredity. -___-

The mother (Faerie) and the Father Raine both are YellowPudding. Lets take white allele as Y.
The four kids that Faerie gave birth to are all yellow pudding type (yellow) except for one odd one out- a black one. Hence we introduce the recessive allele as y.

the reason they are scattered about is because they faerie is very lousy at mtohering, she rans off halfway through feeding when she sense us, and the poor baby had to try and cling on to her but the got scattered in the end. so poor things you know. they get banged around and desperately trying to get milk so they and grow up and open their eyes, grow fur and learn how to crawl. -___-

the reason they are in the food tray is because they learnt how to er..nibble le. started taking hard food. they also gained the usage of their cheek pouches.

notice something in the above pic? one hamham tried to drink milk. mother just walks into the food tray and they baby got squashed. quite funny lah. it happens all the time. btw, they haven't opened their eyes yet!

IT PEED ON MY HAND!!! ahhhhhh....one whole pool of yellow urine. yuckyuck.

It happened right after this. i think it got scared cos it was out of familiar territory.

back to feeding again. isn't life boring? Raine's life even worse. He's alone and just sleeps all day.

as I was just fiddling around with one of my programs audacity (a sound recording) when i noticed the pitch, speed, tempo function. :D :D :D so me and andra wanted to try it out. hence we grab the first song on my playlist, which is eternal snow from fullmoon wo sagashite and recorded a tune. then we fiddled. :D and we realised we can be cute japanese stars anytime and attempt all high speed songs by tiddling abit. (cheat!)

1. First, we created the cute version. I sang the first part, then there was a break with andra singing from "yuki no.." The speed and pitch was changed.

This post is about V-day and my campaign team's whole week of selling stuff.

As most of you know, we have been busy preparing for the debut of our fortrees week. But alas, we are very unprepared and thus only on the first day did we managed to obtain the permit (we have to pay a tax of $3 a day!!!) for selling things in school. The board was only set up on Tues/Weds. We sold badges, and leaves. AND...WE MANAGED TO FINISH BY FRIDAY!! It was quite embarassing to shout for ppl's attention and we looked desperate. -___- We sold leaves and poppuri for 50 cents and badges for 1.50 each.

Our booth was located at the heart of our school, at the spiral staircase. And everyday, recess, lunch, after school we promoted ourselves in front of the canteen, yelling and threatening, bribing, and what not.

So in the end, obessive and nice xh went to buy the exact same badge after srcutinizing it for a longgggggggg longggggggg time ( for scratches and alignment problem and whatnot) and went and bought a leaf with the EXACT same colour and the EXACT same fact on it. -______-

anyway, i just wanna say a BIG thank you to all the ppl who supported us in one way or another by buying our badges and leaves and sorry if we had harassed you incesscently over the past week. :D

Oh, and our tree was sooo realistic that an insect actually though it was home!:)

oh, and even mrs tan came to our booth and wrote on a leaf! (sorry for the blurness, me was trying to sneak a picture) she told us she will owe us 10 cents for the leaf. -__- demo, how are we going to ask for it? -__- "hey, mrs tan! You owe us 10 CENTS!!!" sigh.

The Past Week

The past week has been a really traumatising experience. Its so hectic and crazy. I had too many things on my mind I actually broke down EVERY night. its like anything at all will trigger me. it can be a comment, or just at the thought of additional work and stressful stuff. Its really terrible and i am sorry if it affected anyone. I think i don't know how to handle stress very well. even a simple comment from my brother that i don't know how to do pri 6 maths cause me to throw a pen at him (and it happened 1 hour ago. lucky he was nice abt it). last night i was so frustrated at the SS proposal that when michelle asked me to do something over MSN, i lost it,' yelled', logged out and cried. See, its such a sad situation. some days i just sat in front of my desk and cry. for some reason i seem to think that tears will bring away sorrow and all the sadness from within, but it just keeps coming back. (i think i can audition for some weepy drama series. -___-) I don't know how long this will last, but i believe that as long as there is alot of work left undone, i will still be in depression.

-just a post to say it all out. pls ignore this like you have never read it. I'm unstable within, but i'll get over it..someday. (i shall clarify that me is not some angsty teen and that i am just facing the same thing many other people who has depression does. Its a medical condition. Go see a doctor if you have it. :D *advertise*)

CAPTURED and ESCAPED

oh dear, my title sounds really scary right? did I get kidnapped?? nope, but the events are as serious and freaky. Yes, its is eventS. Two seperate ones. I am just grouping them together for easy writing.

In CAPTURED, some stranger had taken a photo of me for goodness know what purpose. >.< color="#ff6600">WHY AM I EVEN DOING THIS??? HE IS A STRANGER!!!" but too late. in the end, he took the picture and we walked away. omg omg omg. i die le. if he happens to be lying and god knows what he will do with the pic? got my nametag on somemore!! if hes not lying then ok lah..but still not very nice right? for all i know he could be a psycho, a pervert, a evil photoshop-per, a devil in disguise, a man looking for random people so he can engage HIT MAN TO KILL ME! AHHHHH!!! one of the many suspicious signs: -he was very vague on details. nomally you will go:"hello, we would like to take a photo of you in your sch uniform for our blah blah blah project" but he just said school project, on singapore schools. -AND, he only took me. ONE PERSON?? IS THAT NORMAL?? -AND he didn't even take the school in the bg. WHAT SENSE IS THAT??? ... u am done for... looks like i am not that sensible after all. As for the ESCAPE component of my blog entry, its not about me lah, but more of my hamsters. In my second last blog entry I mentioned i got new hamster right? They were 5 weeks old at that time. but now, they have grown much bigger, CLIMB more, eat more, squeak more, increased attraction instincts and obtained reproduction functions. -____-"'

notice i highlighted the word climb. yup. faerie escaped for about 2 days. she became really naughty and active recently and has moodswings. she fights with raine over food and whatnot. then after fighting she just have certain blank periods where is freezes and stares into space. -_-

as i mentioned, due to their increased in size and climbing abilites, faerie found a way out. there is a two storey structure in the cage (in hamster scale) and it is placed close to the wall. she actually squeezed between the house and the wall and slide up to the roof, and reach up to the rim of the cage. and then..she got out.

i only realised this after my father told me after sch one day. after that, everytime i walk around the house, i keep looking at the floor and very nook and nanny hoping to find her. i even walked around the corrider of my flat to search. in the end...

i found it in my house. at that point i have already given up hope le. i even considered buying another one.

my maid was cooking when she shouted come come! then andra ran over and came into my room with faerie in her hands. it turns out that it had sneaked into one of the cupboards in my kitchen when my maid accidentally left it open. It was used to store pots and pans (oh dear..my food is contaminated!). then it was trapped in there for a day. my maid said she found it sitting in a corner with a chewed up corner of the newspaper lining.

when we let faerie back into the cage she immediately went to drink lots and lots of water and ate and ate and ate. sigh. i hope it never happens again. >.<

HAPPY CNY!

Last friday was a no studying day where we had 2 hours plus of CNY celebration. The dress code was pretty slack. The only restriction is No Indecency. Oh well. I wore two green tank tops and a green skirt. (they are all in different shades..hmm) Jieshi commented it looked more hari raya. But this new year there WAS an increase in wearing green this new year. New trend? :D not sure. anyway, huiyi wore the same tank top as me from U2 but in orange and 3/4 jeans while xh wore her playboy top and pants. We had plans to go out after the celebrations but I had a meeting first.

The meeting is actually because of this NUS world bank competition i joined. It is a contest for new and creative campaigning methods in promoting environmental/health/poverty issues. Our group chose "Deforestation in indonesia". The time alloted for the contest is super short! only a month plus to come up with the stuff as well as a small scale pilot campaign. MUST SUPPORT US KAY! we have to do everything under the sun from videos, exhibitions, badges, wesbites, songs, posters, adverts to a tree model. Its just a whole bunch of work. But NICE work. its quite fun.

That meeting was the one where we started building the trunk of the tree. you can see us at work here:

anyway, after we finished work, here comes the fun and goofing around! All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! heres a group shot in our classroom. (without the ugly tree) :P

Michelle and me exchanged jackets for the weekend. (yes i still have it) Its in the wash.

Farina the Criminal! Psst! Notice the numbers? it means 403'06. we are all in class 4/3. And, coincidentally, our project is primarily about trees right? hence i had a brainspark and came up with the group name 'ForTrees'. Nice right? :D And the name was derived after we picked our topic :D

and michelle the actress. she really looks like she is crying right? and this is only take two.

anyway, after that was the end of the meeting and i went to look for xh and hy. They were hanging out with pngteh and taking photos. -____-. oh and me and xh made an extension to their group name. Its PNGTEH-YA! You know umeya? or okiya? the 'ya' means house in jap. so pngtehya was born. (i think it is something like teahouse...^^;)

xh and hy was supposed to be at the movies watching memoirs of a geisha while waiting for me but we decided to go k-box instead. its about the same. for k-box, it was 11+ for a person. if they watch the movie which will be around 7-9 dollars + lunch 3-4 bucks,it will be around $11. but for me it will make a difference cos i was not going to watch the movie anyway. K-box provides lunch in case you don't know. :)

then we went to take the usual neoprints. me,hy and xh took a $10 one at this machine called urara (its ulala in english) but the machine was quite horrible. It made our faces so white that you can't see the nose. (only very faintly) everyone became a mouse. but if your nose is horrible looking (like mine i think) then its a plus. :D i will post the neoprints as soon as i can get to scan it.

I wasn't satisfied with it so i was like:"wanna take another round?" then hy was" ok! ok!" but xh declined. so i spent (heart pain) another 4.50 for neoprints. this time cause there was only two people its not that cramp, got bigger head shots, but i came to a desicion that 3 ppl neoprints are better. (so ppl, heed my advice and save your pockets!!!) me and hy took a one person shot each and two combine shots. the rest were printed out as extras (small ones). quite nice lah. then we uploaded one into the machine. that moment is so funny. me and hy each got a pen and she was like" this is nicer". then i said "no, this is nicer!" and we kept switching around the photos back and forth until the time was up. (i got it. :D) but actually both are equally nice. seriously. you can judge. we also found out that neoprints taken in a rush is the best.(its the yellow one)

me:" are you sure?..." then suddenly we heard the machine count down.

"san, ni, ichi!" and instinctively we swung around and flashed a grin. lol. Its a natural instinct le. so the next time you walk down the street and say san ni ichi to us right...(you know what will happen)

kk. the rest is history. we went to far east and walk around. hy was trying to find her perfect shoes and me a bag. I shan't elaborate any more except to say that none of us suceeded. hy, if you read this, you can go explain. my hand very tired le. BB! and Happy CNY!

Hamster Mania!

For those who knew I had hamsters before: I GOT TWO AGAIN. 0.o

The story: It started out on a nice Sunday morning when it is Andra's birthday. Our plans for sentosa trip is ruined because of the rain spell. Hecne we were stuck at home. During Lunch, after incessant plays of CLUEDO the boardgame, andra's birthday present, we started talking about the subject of pets.

Andra: "eh vanessa, my friend says she is getting me a pet leh. Cause I told her I wanted one."
Vanessa: "omg. are you sure? what is she going to get you?"
Andra: "Maybe fish, but I want hamsters!

(and thats how the topic of hamsters was brought up)

From that moment on, Andra was begging, pleading, asking and asking my father to allow her to have hamsters. I was sort of against it. Who's gonna clean it? Whos gonna play with them once we are tired of them? What happens if they stink?

Believe me, these are the woes of rearing a few cm long rodents. Don't be fooled by their small size. They still need care. and my worries are no unfound. the last time i had hamsters, it was crazy in a sense.

We started out with three. 2 females and one male, courtesy of yiling. Then their population grew, and grew AND GREW. we had to find ways to house them, sell them (for 2 bucks)...in the end, some died of fighting, injuries, run away cases, stolen. a few of them were partly my fault but not entirely. They ran away by their own accord (chew holes), took advantage of design fault of cages, fought and then got injured and died. -___- and the stolen, erhem. My mum insisted on leaving them outside because of the smell. and i can't possibly padlock the cage can I? However, i still love my hamsters. :)
in the end:

Dad: "ok lah. ok lah."
Mum: "Ni men yao yang ye ke yi. wo men you long zi."
Li Yuan: "NOOOO"
Me: "are you sure? are you sure?? write a contact!"

so five people went down to the pet shop downstairs while it is raining super heavily just to buy a hamster. we initally want only to buy one cause there will be no fighting, no breeding...and..you get what i mean. low maintence.

but the pet shop owner managed to convince us to buy the most ex species, yellow pudding for 25 bucks each. the cheapest is 12. and we bought two somemore. Because, according to him, this kind of hamsters don't breed easily, is entle and cuddly (because they love to eat). apparently his customer bought a male and female and after half a year they still didn't breed. He also said he will buy the babies from us too. (BUT notice he never say the price!)

oh well. enough talking. its piccy time. I used back the old hamster accessories. (houses, cage)

we took a introductory video of the hamster too(complete with voice recording and amazing acrobatic hamster only stunts). but sadly its 22.1mb. cannot post up. if can, just the video would be more than enough. :( so you guys just have to settle for low-quality photos. :) there's also andra's birthday photos.

They are called Raine and Faerie. (faerie's the girl and belongs to me)(Raine's male and he's andra's) raine is fatter. The top one in the above picture.

Ding! Its cakes!!! Yup. :D school started and my 2005 holiday is looongg gone. So what did I do in the two months break? Cakes. -___-"' I realised cakes can be very addicting. I went to sembawang library and found a few cookbooks with cake recipes and decided to try them out. Its like I bake one cake every few days. yup. really addicting. It likes you bored then *poof* 'lets bake a cake!' :D Heres what I did..er hem. It is purely beginner's work so don't critic too much about the appearence. The taste is fine>>like any other cake. Hopefully next time it will look and taste heavenly. :P Ratings upon 5!^^

anyway, I didn't snap a photo of all the cakes i baked (arond 10 I think) so here are those that i managed to capture:

1. Ichigo (Strawberry) Swiss Roll!

er..unfortunately i only remember to take a photo of it when theres only a few slices left. hmm..this is my first time baking this and..i find the steps quite easy. but i didn't have a right sized tin hence its a bit to small. I used a square one instead of rectangular. slightly undercooked.

2. Ichigo Victorian Sponge Cake!

Rating: ****/* (4 and a half)

My tasters (family) loved this one! (yes..ita strawberry again..) The process was a bit crazy because I think the recipe has a bit of problem and the resulting mixture is too watery. Hence i was like desperately mixing in more flour while the mixture just drip drip drip down. But the end product was nice. Taste wise. The look isn't too spectacular but its still passes as a normal cake.

3. Coffee butter cake!

Rating ****

For the coffee taste, normal coffee powder was used (we had to grind it up a bit) . We didn't have the brown sugar as the recipe requested so we used red sugar. Only the colour was affected. red and brown's sugar taste don't differ much. hence the coffee cake's colour is slightly off. We sprinkled some pumpkin seeds at the top too. One thing about all my cakes are that they rised till really high in the oven and when you take them out, some of them flattened again..T.T this was what happened here. oh well.

4. Raisins and nut vanilla cake!!

Rating: ****/* (4 and a half)

I like how this smelt! the aroma is thick with milk and vanilla taste when it was just out of the oven. but it sort of faded away some time. I like the milky taste and the ingredients in it. It looks quite nice too AND..it didn't flop. yay!

The end..

I don't think there will be many cake escapes for me now that school started, but it doesn't take long to bake a cake i guess. at most an hour plus. but thats all.^^

Firstly, sorry for the late new year greetings! Happy new year! I was lying in my bed at that time when they did the countdown. (heard it over the radio outside my room) I actally got sad and cried when they went 10, 9 8, 7... Don't ask me why, but I was sad about the year 2005 leaving. (yep, i'm a pessimist. kept thinking what i have accomplished) no new year's resolutions. cos i won't keep them anyway. but PLENTY of regrets. (like dumping away all my wks. ACTUALLY, someone stole them. they were left outside) see what i mean about being pessimistic??

anyway, another sad affair----schools back again. i have about 40 mintues till the bedtime i set for myself. bag checked, uniform checked, alarm clock checked. -___-

I have a light bag tommorow. no books, only some worksheets and a diary. (thats excluding my gigantic rs file) I really hope the teachers are nice and don't stress us out over our grades with tests/pop quizzes. X

1. Photo Painting

Andra bought a make-your-own-photo-frame-kit. It contains a pack of plaster powder and two moulds. so we took one mould each. after mixing the mixture (with my untrustworty knowledge from artclub) we left it out to dry for many many days.

Then comes the painting! Here is a before pic:

I used poster paint for the painting. and boy, it took forever. its not easy painting something that is not flat. and further more, the paint is not waterproof! TnT one drop of water and ruin things. (but i solved the problem later on. used aryllic gloss.XD)

and...the end product! with andra as the model.-____- she loves the limelight.

anyway..in the end, andra finished her frame too, with my help. she messed up some things and i fixed it...by drawing faces on the circle ball like things. -____- it looks kinda funny. yup, and i wrote the words to finish it off. merry christmas! hohoho...

cute right? :D

2. Furniture making

and now...on to our next activity! XD

okay. furniture making is making doll sized wood pieces, not the acutal real life ones. they are packed in a cardboard/wood panel and you pop them out and assemble. its a pretty messy and painful affair. the wood aren't nicely sanded around the edges you know. lots of splinters. *n*

3. Digital Imaging

Yup! After the first success, I decided to edit a few more photos! (Taken from duste's blog)
Mostly decor with minimal smoothening of contours on face. (to appear less grainy) 99% natural! :P

this one is the only photo where I darken the line above all our eyes to define them more. (very slight only!)

okay. I am not sure whether issit otomodachi or tomodachi. never check. anyway..for this picture the original one is really graniy, so i just texturize it.

and..a snowy snowy pic. (Its winter now!) I only added frame to this.

4. Colour pencilling Title: Akiharu

This is another one of the colourpenciled drawings from me. The colour theme originally was supposed to be plain autumn, but i realised i like to have a more balanced colour scheme in my drawings hence i added a side of green to it. now its autumn (aki)and spring (haru) themed! it has the idea of bypassing winter, the cold and dead season. This time the girl in the drawing has a more modern outfit, non-fantasy style. a nice change isn't it? I will have to stop slacking and complete more CGs. Too many piled up.p.s the quote was just some one minute line crapped up by me. i initally wanted to put it in the picture, but decided not to later on.

5. Balloon sculpturing!

andra has this pack of long balloons and a instruction guide for "twisting" balloons in many different shapes, so we went to try it out.
first up is a yellow mouse! It was given to huiyi as her birthday present (one of them anyway)

Second up is a orenji rabbit (usagi!)

and..a white ribbon! (It shows support for against balloon animals cruelty. -______-" Thats how you wear it. -___- modeled by andra. looks... abit like something from the cartoons doesn't it?

and the love birds! The heart shaped part is screwed cos we had to bend the balloon ourselves, like hold it at the ends until the balloon stretches into the shape. the guide had a ready made one...

Mangaka 05

Okay, this is abit late but I will still dedicate a post to that event. Mangaka'05 is the first manga drawing competition I have joined and it is held around June to Sepetember. I was invited to attend the award ceremony because I was one of the finalist.

So that day, hy and xh accompanied me there to the event. It was held at Library @ Orchard on the Saturday before EOYs. -________- But it was fun and I didn't mind spending my entire morning and afternoon there even though it was mugging period! ^^ yay!

we met Mr Mah and his daughter there as well as ms tong and many other students. There was quite alot from RGS. But sadly, neither of us brought any camera, so we couldn't takephotos of the event.

They cordoned of the cafe gallileo and coffee tables area from the rest of the library and placed rows and rows chairs in one corner and set up some booths selling stuff like wacom tablets and panels and panels of boards on a wall with the finalists artworks on. There was a primary school category, a seconday school category and a open category. The primary's works look like mine back when i was their age, but they learned digital colouring then! compared to my traditional ones back then. So i expect them to have really really great works when they are adults?

anyway, the entire thing was like presentation of prizes. all the consolations first, then the top 3. so, obviously if you didn't get a consolation, you are in the top 3! oh well, mine got a consolation. a bit expected. Its not consoling AT ALL. -________-. A useless lousy membership (which is a printed out registeration form that looks really unpro) and a 50mb webhosting for a year, with the space taken off their own domain, mangaka.com.sg....

ms tong was with an angmoh guy who introduced him to me during the event. apparently ms tong was a trainee teacher under him at nanyang, and he told me ms tong said I was 'a very responsible girl'. and i was like really??! he confirmed it then there was like aslightly arkward pause. but hes quite nice. said congrats then left. eh.

oh, back to the prizes, after the consolations, they presented the top 3. it was quite expected lah. but the organizes were quite nice and threw in some extra prizes. Theres the colour harmony award, the book prize for interesting sypnosis and some others. I won the book prize! yay! It was totally unexpected. really. i was reall shocked when i went up the stage again. I recieved this:

its some book and a complete set of anime operation santuacy. (Its only 16 eps) I have since read and watch it all. The book was quite nice, but there wasn't an ending, cause its part of a triology...dunno whether want to buy the rest, but they are $15 each. Not cheap. The anime is quite nice. theres two endings. the main male protagnist ends up with either mikoto (disc 4)or honami (disc 3). so its like, if you support mikoto, then you watch disc 1,2,4. I like mikoto more.:P

AND THEN....I got really lucky and won the lucky draw prize!! It was 1 hour after the prize giving end so some people went home. nonetheless, as singaporeans are kiasu...most stayed behind. I did and was rewarded. It was one of the last few prizes. The front one was crap. umbrellas..yay! 1-70 eps of hunter x hunter!! I was like so happy, to see myself returning home with so many prizes! they gave out a goodie bag and it already had alot of stuff, especially after the new prizes, it was bursting!

but i sold it le. cause i defintely won't watch it. Its more for guys. (shounen anime)

all in all, it was a very fruitful day of reapings!!

AND, I trashed out with photoshop tonight and managed to whip up a picture of me (Y) and huiyi (D)! Made it neoprint style and additional details. compare with original photo at huiyi's blog if you want.

We took this at a neoprint machine with our own cam. :P

Ok! Ima wa Vanessa's Random Ramblings!! (27/10)
An quick update about all that has happened during my 'mugging' period.

We start off with the time Andra's mum came to singapore and we took her out to suntec and esplanade, clarke quay that area. During 1st. October. We took the boat tour and watch the "Jazz Kids" perform at the esplanade before ending off at a ex. Indo restaurant at Suntec. (the bill ran into 100+ for 3 adults and 3 kids) Oiishi! Yum! But i wasn't allow to take photos of the food cos its a bit arkward and i was busy watching the young kids 'singing their vocal cords out'. (They were really really LOUD and clear. I can't believe their courage to sing on stage!)

here are some shots of us enjoying the breeze on the boat. There were others on the boat, but we went and sit in front and blocked the whole view. Abit paiseh, but we paid...sigh. I felt abit inconsiderate. The super nice view! The close up pic is nicer cos the waves are really really beautiful! ahhh..kirei aoi aoi no umi! sugoi aoi aoi no sora!! shiroi no kumo!

[The title is just another fancy title for alice in wonderland. it started off as a random girl but i suddenly decided to do it as an alice-themed picture. hence you might find she doesn't have the hairband alice wears and the dress is diff. (although i try to keep the colour scheme) i am quite happy with how it turned out (especially the rose) , EXCEPT for the lines. i hate how messy and rough they are. haven't found any way to keep lines clean yet. (anyone has clues? eg. draw bigger scan in smaller kind of things? i know an alternative is to draw inthe com. but with my lousy tablet, which is really hard to use, it is impossible. [i've tried])My end-of-year exams just finished yesterday (woohoo!!!~) so yup, i spent the whole afternoon today colouring this. -_______- it took me about 4-5 hours? dunno. (my eyes are failing) ]

Yay! I think all sec three rgs girls will remember the time when Japanese Girls roamed our school right? Fiona's guest is Narumi and Huiyi's guest is Yuka. (I am more familiar with Yuka) Anyway this was about a month plus ago, but i will still post it. We went out with her (hy, xh and me) after national day...

We went to eat ya kun kaya's toast and shop around orchard. Huiyi's blog would have given you a good account of it.

Then on another occasion, we went out after school on the day she was due to leave (thursday) and went to eat DIY ice-cream buffet. Demo, no cam at that time so no pics. Then after that yuka and hy went my house to record songs. cause yuka actually wanted to go k-box to sing one, but no time. so they just went my house instead.

We sang mostly ayumi songs (no way to say, voyage, boys and girls etc), and some others such as somewhere over the rainbow. yuka's english no bad leh...the recordings is all anyhow one. abit messy, but it was fun.

*I switched to unlimited broadband! yay! no more worries!!! hakuna matata!! can post as many pics as i want. not that i care last time. -________-

We had dinner halfway and this is what i observed: Hy left practically 2/3 of her dinner untouch while yuka finished every grain of rice. Yes. EVERY Grain. hy left dunno how many spoonfuls. (mine is moderate clean)

in the end, they left my house at 10 plus (its a school day btw). Quan jia fu!! The little girl is andra, my tenant.

Update on Uk Trip

Hey ya! Konnicha wa minna! i am back with the uk pics. This is to supplement the uk pictures i posted up before. cos i raided the school's computer for the pics. they are taken by sabrina, the photographer for the trip. ^^ I shall be very selective cos the pictures ran into hundreds.

Yay, first the food. this is some of what we have been eating there:

from the not very nice curry rice (they can't cook rice)...

to the sugoi desserts! brownie with ice cream!! pure cheese cake! gigantic sugared cream puff! chocolate mousse! i gained 2 kilos when i got back. -_______- too buta le..

above is our typical breakfast everyday at dalefort!

cool right? we pack our own lunch everyday to bring out on the fieldtrips. they let us choose whatever we want to put in the burger. as much as you like. got egg, veg, spread, ham, meat, tomato, etc etc. then use cling wrap. we can opt for either banana or apple to bring to eat. got cake too! ahh...zattai taberu!

i shan't post pics of the lessons and fieldtrips..should i? just some i guess...

Baking Day!

Wahh..i realised all my entries all so outdated... cannot be helped -____- i am a procastinator, or rather, little time to blog. this time is sneak off from homework one. feels so guilty. [spent the last 5 hours eating, playing wasting her time instead of doing homework and exercising] Now feel tired and have alot of things that are supposed to be done today. :( howw??? i shall go do hw first then continue. :D BTW, the baking trip is done on a sunday, a week before bio pt is due.

Due to popular demand from the hy and xh. i shall blog. -_____________-
This is huiyi's pizza in the oven. Its the first time i used the oven btw...it turned out ok, but not very nice tasting. :D The marshmallow she added in the crust melted into caramel so its empty at the end (hollow). The thing isn't really baked enough when we took it out so it wasn't a success...

Here's my choux pastry that didn't puffed well. That happened for the subsequent times i did it. until the actual night of baking then it worked. yay! my classmates who tasted it says its nice! and they wanted more. :)

This is us eating huiyi's pizza. We are halfway through baking and already tired, sticky, dirty, messy and OILY!! which reminds me i have to bake again this holiday. if not the oven very waste. :P

Anyway, this is huiyi's end product the one we are eating. trust me, it looks nice but the taste....is floury and unbaked kind. if we had leave it in the oven longer, it probably won't be that bad. Ingredients break down. there is chocolates, stawberry, kiwi, marshmallow(reduced to caramel) sugar on the crust and cream cheese.

This is my end product. it tastes okay lah, even though it isn't what is it supposed to be you will taste cream, ichigo, honey, yogurt, eggs, flour and butter!

oh, and forgot to mention, in addition for the day, we baked a sugar cake. it was supposed to be cookie, but the online recipe doesn't work and the cookie lumped together to form cake. it tastes cakish too. so i shall pretend we MEANT to bake a cake.

Its looks not bad lah. i want to eat it! tabetai! It was damn damn sweet. even andra can't take it. SUPER amai can? anyway, we recorded some lame videos about us killing each other at the end of the day..and thats about it. :) so i conclude the baking day entry.

still have alot more entries haven put up. i try to put more today.

Currently doing bio report and listening to my playlist (anime/jap songs :P) Heard the song from Kanon - "last regrets" sound quite nice (the chorus part). so wanted to change my blog midi. ahh..i like the word Kanon now!! n_n Anyway, i wu liao so post up a watercolour/colour pencil picture i did a quite ago. Spent like 5 hours on it but it's a bit screwed. anyway, tag board seemed to be spoiled. aiyah..nevermind. you guys mostly got blogger right? just comment on post for the time being. :D

Oh yah, here is the ring hy and xh bought for me on my birthday. i have the blue one and huiyi has the purple and xinhui the pink! It has a plastic butterfly on it.

Uk Trip

Ok...i know this is wayyy overdue but i never really had time to do all this..Since it has been quite a while, i won't be giving much description... just little captions below pictures.:D Will be doing bio PT in the meanwhile when it is uploading :p
btw, i went to uk on a school trip in june if you didn't know.

After the walk everyone was damn tired and in need of a good long rest. Everyone Splurged on ice cream and sweets after that. The ice cream shop was very lame. got a picture of prince willam on the walls saying he was here with a group of students blah blah blah...

yay..then we left for tours in uk!!! end of fieldwork. (i never did give much of a glimpse did i? never mind..next time i got more time then crap more about it.

This is me and zhenyi at the roman baths!!! :D No time to see stuff. had like 1hr in this gigantic place for sightseeing and souviner at the same time!! i need to spend at least half an hour at the shop!! that leaves half an hour for the tour in the museum = to nothing gain from the tour.

tada!!! went to the shakespeare globe theatre. Watched a play 'a winter's tale' didn understand what they were saying but roughly...only roughly know the plot.-_____- cannot take lit. sure fail one. Sneaked a shot of the play. *thinks it wasn't allowed*

On the last day of the trip, we went to see the queen's procession at green park. Took many random shots of the place. cos can't see whats in front of me. too many people. tall ones. had to just raise the camera as high as possible and just snap blindly. Somemore there's this little girl who suddenly piggyback on her father when the show reaches the climax. so irritating. -____- Very hot and sunny there. Basically just go there to see horses march past. the two princes rode past but i didn't recognize them until later when i confirmed it with the rest. :P

Me and vivien at piccadilly circus during our last day shopping. vi was quite pissed with us for spending so much time buying stuff but heck care lah...

Yay! Tommorow's my 15th birthday![Can have an IC] ^^ Don;t know why so enthu. Normally birthdays just come and goes.-_____- Anyway, I am going to try and bake my own birthday cake..but don't know if have time. :D Hope i 'quick tall grow up!' (direct chinese translation) [not much years left.TnT]

What happened on that day....

In school classmates so nice sing birthday song for me.^^- yay..then farina sang this version.

Then zhenyi gave me present:

Just after school xinhui me and huiyi went out to far east. They initally said just bring me there to buy present cos they not enough money yesterday, but we ended up walking around the shops. Then we went to this accessory shop and they showed me what they intended to buy-> butterfly ring and necklace..but i think the neckace not worth 7 bucks cos quality is not that good. in the end we only bought the rings. xinhui-pink, huiyi-purple, me-blue. Huiyi bought a clip on earring too..but it was too small. :P heh heh.. Then by that time we were all hungry..so went to taka and bought japanese noodles [xh, yi paid :D]and was looking for a place to sit when we saw Ms chung and Mr.slatter...-_______- At first i didn notice them one but xinhui stopped and pulled huiyi ['That looks like tina chung!'} then huiyi stopped and me, being blur again..was the last to know. i saw ms chung waving and smiling to us as they were going up the escalator. ^^; Then we were so shocked and xh and hy gossiped. -____- Then we walk and walk..continue towards taka AND SAW THEM again after we came up of the lift. -_________-"' Then i laugh and laugh and laugh cos so coincidental and somemore ms chung smile and wave while mr.slatter looked irritated. 0.o Huiyi said he gave this look that said :why do we need students now??

Then we found some nice empty place [behind some restaurants] and ate and crap about truman and D.I.Y stuff..

Then went orchard library and me and hy got treated by xh at cafe galilee's. (Xh had a Hot beverage free card which her tuition teacher gave]. Me being not a coffee lover chose hot chocolate while xh and ht chose mocha latte. Then we went kinokuniya and xh, hy brought me tsubasa manga...[read it later but it wasn't very nice i think. CLAMP's manga layout not very nice..the art okay lah..but i prefer watching tsubasa in anime format and reading it in manga] yay!

So far all the things they pay! ^^ *feels weird* Oh yah..we agreed that next time on who ever's birthday, we bring that person out and she don't need to pay a cent on that day.:)

After that we walked back to the mrt station and bought a small green tea cake at breadtalk. tada! Day end...(afternoon i mean)

THEN, i went home and rushed out again to visit Andra at kk hospital...and watched jimmy neutron on the tv in her room. lalala then went out to pizza hut to eat dinner.:)

Mangaka Workshop

Just had the mangaka workshop yesterday...It was pretty crappy. We are supposed to learn how to turn lineart into digital art. but then all she did is to give us definitions of what is bitmap and vector images and how to scan images in and brief, very brief steps on how to use two open source programs called inkscape and gimp. As in she teach us how to open the software and indentified the tools but the colouring part is basically up to us. Turns out that the inkscape is quite useful lah. It turns sketchy stuff into more liney ones. but you can bascially achieve that by using photoshop.

The gimp is bad.....it doesn't (seem) to have layers at all and all you do is to use select tool and fill in the colour [Deselecting is so inconvienent]...We didn't use our own linearts at all cos there is no time to scan. -__________- opened a sample one. so two hours is just spent colouring the stuff. This is what i did. Very sian..didn't put effort.

{Bah...can't get blogger to upload what i want. It takes too long... so used external host -____- the uploading function always gives me a blank screen after it 'finished' (i assume) but the picture doesn't appear anywhere..}

I decided to resume blogging (frequently i hope) and thus created shinji-yume.blogspot.com!^^ I actually shortened The original name but it still means 'believe in dreams' [yume o shinjiteru] i think. Erm..most of the things right now are under-construction and i need some time to get the hang of things. :D la la la..
